The story begins with a troublesome boy whose initial foray into the world of illustration was to “improve” his sister’s homework with drawings and scribbles. This progressed into drawing on his bedroom wall. Fast forward some years and he went to university to hone his wall and homework defacing skills into more useful things like picturebook illustration.  Richard has worked with a number of publishers including Simon & Schuster, Walker Books, Faber & Faber, Little Tiger Press and Frances Lincoln.

Ultimately, Richard loves working with picturebooks because no matter how simple the narrative, you can always read between the lines – the only limit is your imagination!
