My initial foray into the world of illustration was to “improve” my sister’s homework with drawings and scribbles. This progressed into drawing on my bedroom wall. Fast forward some years and I went to university to hone these wall/homework defacing skills into more useful things like picturebook illustration. Since then I have worked with a number of publishers including Simon & Schuster, Walker Books, Faber & Faber, Little Tiger Press, Frances Lincoln and Albert Whitman & Co. I have also worked on a number of licensing projects providing illustrations to go on various products internationally.
Ultimately, I love working with picturebooks because no matter how simple the narrative, you can always read between the lines – the only limit is your imagination!
